NASA has today announced which museums will become home for the 3 Space Shuttles to be retired this year.
Discovery (which finished its final mission in March 2011) heads to the Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia, Endeavour (whose launch window opens on 29th April 2011) will go to the California Science Center in Los Angeles, and Atlantis (which is currently due for lift-off at the end of June 2011) will take pride of place at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center.

Also, the prototype Enterprise (which never flew in space) will be displayed at the Intrepid museum in New York City. Originally named “Constitution”, fans of Star Trek staged a successful letter writing campaign and NASA renamed it in honour of the famous starship.
NASA administrator Charles Bolden said each shuttle had “stories to tell”.
